器形简单，头部雕琢三个凸起圆点，受沁后表面出现酱红色沁斑，原有玉色已质变，质变具年代特征。

在红山文化飞禽类的玉雕中，玉鸮最为突出，玉鸮背面横穿鼻状双孔，用以拴绳系挂作为墓主人的饰物，起辟邪厌胜的作用。鸮在上古时期被认为是通神的动物，仰韶文化有陶鸮尊，商代有铜鸮尊，把祭器做成鸮的形状，就是期望借助鸮来通达神灵。

红山，位於内蒙古赤峰市东北一百公里左右的地方由五个主要山峰组成，面积大約十平方公里，最高的鳯凰峰，海拔七百四十六公尺。此山巍峨挺拔，崤壁连绵。由於曝露在外的花岗均呈赭红色，远远望去，一遍火红，因此称它为【红山】。 【红山】是地名：【红山文化】则是涵葢了辽河流域的廣大土地。

In 2002 or 2003 when i show this piece of  jade to an expert from Christie’s auction house (Hong Kong) she said she had not seen such form yet, but the colour and the  stone are correct, it belongs to HongSan culture. The auction price is around US$ 10K. 红山文化玉牛 会英雄 红尘滚 淡漠人间事 骑青牛 出碧山 龙滚逍遥去

I nicknamed this piece Big Bird Papa. What animal do you think it resembles? Is this HongSan culture or LiangZhu culture? Who knows?
